I wasn't sure who we could trust, and so I did my best to gather all the information I could before coming to ask you. For all I knew, you could have gotten upset with me, so I wanted to... make it so you couldn't really have anything to hold over me.

I thought you would be at least pleased with how I went about doing things. Maybe it's not the way you would have done it, but I tried to at least be thorough and verify all of my information first.
